Story of Eros

🌹 Eros — The First Tremor

There are two births of Eros in Greek mythology — and that duality matters for this archives of GreekDeodorant.com

1️⃣ The Primordial Eros (Cosmic Desire)

In the oldest cosmogonies (like Hesiod’s Theogony), Eros is not the son of anyone.

He appears after Chaos — alongside Gaia and Tartarus.

He is not “romantic love.”

He is the force that makes things move toward each other.

Before Eros:

• Everything exists… but nothing connects.

• There is matter, but no magnetism.

• There is potential, but no union.

Eros is the impulse that causes:

• Sky to desire Earth.

• Gods to procreate.

• Creation to expand.

Without him, Gaia would remain fertile but untouched.

He is the heat that turns existence into life.

In this primordial sense, Eros is closer to:

• Gravity

• Instinct

• Longing

• The hunger behind all becoming

He is beautiful because he is dangerous. He dissolves boundaries.

This is the Eros that fits Primal Boy (2:1) perfectly — the scent that leans into intensity, skin, pulse, magnetism.

2️⃣ Eros, Son of Aphrodite  (600–300 BC - Classical Greece)

Later mythology softens him.

Now he is the child of Aphrodite — playful, winged boy, armed with arrows:

• Golden arrows ignite love.

• Lead arrows provoke aversion.

Here he becomes mischievous. Erotic. Capricious.

He doesn’t just create life — he creates obsession.

And this is where he becomes deeply human.
